THE UGG PHENOMENON AND WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE?
Trends come and go and come back again. You must have noticed that girls are starting to wear comfortable UGG boots again. Known as a girly, comfortable and warm boot for winter, but did you know that UGG originated as a boot to slip on after surfing? Not everyone likes this style, but you have to admit that there will be something to it. Since we recently added some pairs of UGGs to the e-shop, we decided to take an in-depth look at them.
Since its birth in 1978, the rise of the UGG brand reached its peak around 2008, when Hollywood stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Paris Hilton made it the footwear that almost every young girl owned. Originally an icon in California's surf communities, these ultra-comfortable sheepskin boots have taken the world by storm and have since re-emerged in the home goods and men's fashion markets.
UGGs quickly caught on with the younger generation, catering to those who enjoyed a more relaxed lifestyle along with outdoor activities—from SoCal surfers to Aspen skiers. As more people fell in love with this cozy aesthetic, the brand shifted its focus to luxury footwear and found itself in fashion magazines, bringing it into mainstream fashion. Once UGG conquered the fashion capitals of New York and London, the world became their oyster and the brand's popularity skyrocketed.
The classic maroon boots are their flagship model, recognized by many, but have since been overshadowed by future versions as new trends have emerged in footwear. The brand also continued to expand its reach by foraying into apparel and accessories for both men and women. UGG has collaborated with brands such as Telfar, Neighborhood, Bape and others. Building on the growing popularity of mules and slips, UGG has brought its signature sheepskin materials to these modern lifestyle essentials. UGG's most wearable silhouettes today include its Scuffette Slipper, Tasman Slipper and Fluff Yeah Slide.
How versatile are UGGs for outdoor wear?
Depending on the model you buy, each one is designed with its use in mind - whether it's an indoor Slipper or an outdoor Boot. UGG's primary material, which is sheepskin, has a very versatile use for cozying up indoors or keeping warm when outdoors. After all, they were created as shoes to slip on after surfing. The boots' weather-resistant sole ensures suitability for use wherever you want to take them.
What are the most popular UGGs for this winter?
At the moment, the best selling footwear is the UGG Classic Ultra Mini. They are a heavily cropped version of the original All Star Boot, they have a short body so they are very easy to put on and take off. The UGG Tazz Slipper and Tasman Slipper are also popular. Another short-cut model designed for comfort and convenience.
